SARI Filipino Kusina

  • Juan & Jeremy Canlas, Filipino business owners

  • A Filipino-owned business had a small budget to design a physical space and brand identity for an upcoming restaurant. They wanted a look-and-feel that was nostalgic of Filipino kitchens growing up as well as a way to introduce this unique culture to non-Filipinos.

  • Created logo that showcased a mythical bird from Philippine folklore symbolizing good fortune—the sarimanok—and developed an accompanying identity that was joyous and reminiscent of Philippine islands

Incorporated Tag-lish [Tagalog & English] in the menu descriptions, website, and social media captions to give an endearing Filipino-American vibe (paying homage to those who grew up in the U.S. and speak broken Tagalog)

Developed suite of illustrations and patterns incorporating motifs from vintage Philippine cookbooks—used across social media graphics, website backgrounds, business cards, and other print materials
